‘In the past three decades we have covered everything from the German occupation of the British Channel Islands to renewable energy and interviewed everyone from former United States Presidents to the man in the street’
In the early nineteen-eighties when film was still the preferred medium for news gathering, documentaries, and commercial productions, the founders of TV2 realised the quality of video cameras and recorders had reached the point where top-end cameras and peripheral equipment could meet the rigorous standards of broadcast television. Investing in the latest Sony cameras, video recorders and editing equipment, the Company targeted those commercial organisations that were keen to embrace the new technology.
News & Interviews
In the early days, it was commercial videos that provided the main source of income for the newly formed company. But, soon TV2 was providing companies, like Rothmans, with equipment and facilities to provide edited newsfeeds from motorsport and other events. Based on this experience, the Company gradually found itself found itself involved in news gathering for the BBC and other mainstream broadcasters. On one occasion, this included supplying a microwave link that was used to transmit the first live images from inside the Kremilin (as part of CBS’s coverage of the Regan-Gorbachev Summit in 1988).
